Davy Jones

Davy then Davy now

"And now... here he is... what is considered by some to be the world's best looking midget... DAVID THOMAS JONES, baby!" said Mike Nesmith back in 1967. Sure enough, he was right. Davy is a doll! He was then, and he certainly looks very fine now. You couldn't tell by looking at him how old he is. Oh, you don't know how old he is? Well then, you came to the right spot! Here you can find out all about this Manchester-born sweety. Just read on!

On December 30, 1945, David Thomas Jones was born in Manchester, England. Davy's parents were Harry and Doris Jones. When he was 14 years old Davy left school to become a jockey. While he was working as an apprentice, he was encouraged to work on his acting and that lead to various jobs, including a spot on Coronation Street, England's longest running soap opera.

After Coronation Street, Davy starred in a production of 'Peter Pan'. Shortly after that job he auditioned for the part of the Artful Dodger, which he won, in 'Oliver!'. When the production of 'Oliver!' was moved to Broadway, in America, Davy went with them. He won a Tony nomination for his role of the Artful Dodger. After his job on 'Oliver!', Davy went on to star in another Broadway production: 'The Pickwick Papers'.

During this time Davy had proven to many "hot shots" that he was quite the little performer, and was picked up by Ward Sylvester who became his manager. Davy signed on with Colpix Records and released his first album in 1965, a collection of show tunes. Long before 'The Monkees', Davy had his own fan club. When the idea for a television show called 'The Monkees' came into play, Davy was immediately offered the job of one of the boys, long before the advertisement went out to the public.

During 'The Monkees', Davy was married to a young lady named Linda Haines, but this information was not allowed to be released. It didn't become public knowledge until much later. With Linda, Davy fathered two beautiful girls they named Talia Elizabeth Jones and Sarah Lee Jones. Talia was born October 2nd, 1968 and Sarah was born July 3rd, 1971. After 'The Monkees' Davy tried many different things before returning home to England.

In 1976, Davy re-joined Micky, Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart to create Dolenz, Jones, Boyce & Hart. They did extensive touring and released an album before parting and going their own ways. Davy's marriage to Linda did not last and they eventually got a divorce. Sometime after that he and Micky starred together in a musical version of "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer". Micky played Huck Finn and Davy played Tom.

In the 80's, Davy re-married to Anita Pollinger. Davy and Anita had two childen, both girls. Jessica Lillian Jones, born September 4th, 1984 and Annabelle Jones. During the 80's Davy went back to his love, horse racing and got his racing licence. He fulfilled his dream of racing in the Grand Nationals, though he didn't win. He owns his own horses now. Unfortunatly, Davy's marriage to Anita did not last either and they got a divorce.

As far as anyone knows, he is not married now, though he does have a girlfriend (rumored to be model/actress Gillian Holt). As for acting, Davy has done many guest appearances, two of which were 'My Two Dads' and 'Herman's Head'. Davy has also done some recent Broadway work including 'Grease' and 'Oliver!'. This time in 'Oliver!', Davy played "Fagin". In the 1990's he has guest-starred in "The Brady Bunch" movie and on the theater production, "The Real Live Brady Bunch". And of course, he's been very active in recent years with 'The Monkees'.

Davy has released many solo albums over the years, including Davy Jones, David Jones, and Just For The Record vols 1-4. He has also released two autobiographies: They Made a Monkee Out of Me and They Made a Monkee Out of Me Again. With Alan Green, Davy released a fun book full of Monkee pics called, Mutant Monkees Meet the Masters of the Multimedia.
