Micky Dolenz
- Micky stars as a "Gomez Addams" type villain in a move called "Invisable Mom 2", which has just finished filming. It should be out this fall. Also stars: Mary Woronov, Barry Livingston (Ernie on "My Three Sons"), Kathy Garver (Cissy on "Family Affair"), and Justin Berfeld (WB's "Unhappily Everafter").

Mike Nesmith
- Michael Nesmith is exec producing the movie, "Hitchhiker", and might actually get a hit if this is true:
"HITCHING? Jim Carrey eyeing the starring role in the screen
adapation of cult fave 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy', the
    British Press Association reports."

- The official word on Michael's book is as follows:

According to the Fall 1998 St. Martin's Press catalog, Michael Nesmith's
novel "The Long Sandy Hair of Neftoon Zamora" is now scheduled for
publication in November 1998.  Due to the vagaries of the book-selling
industry that means that you should actually find the book on your bookstore
shelves in late September or October.  Their press release says:

"Reality and fantasy sweetly merge in this southwestern tale of one man's
spiritual journey from an original member of the legendary band - The
Monkees.

"A musician, entranced by an intriguing voice he hears on an old tape,
embarks on a mission to find the ever-mysterious Neftoon Zamora, whose
voice he has been listening to.  Beginning in Mississippi, he soon finds
himself traveling through the New Mexico desert, encountering strange and
mystical inhabitants who all have conflicting yarns to spin about the
ephemeral Neftoon.  Is she an Indian High Priestess? Is she part Martian,
part Delta blues singer?  Was she born in Mississippi - or on Mars?

"As the story continues, Neftoon's spirit grows stronger, gradually
encompassing everything.  People, animals, objects - all are affected by
her legend, and all are imbued with a greater meaning beyond their mere
existences.  Therein lies the beauty of the Neftoon myth.  By encircling
all, it excludes none.  Ultimately, this is a look at a unity so complete,
a peace so profound, that we cannot bear to look away.

"Michael Nesmith is a member of the legendary band The Monkees and is also
a successful solo blues musician.  He divides his time between Santa Fe and
Los Angeles."

Other Monkee Stuff
- Monkees on VH-1! (do we hear a boy calling wolf?)
According to the ClickTV website, VH-1 will be playing four Monkees episodes on July 18th, starting at 9am. The scheduled episodes to show are:
    - Monkees in Paris
    - Monkees Blow Their Minds
    - Mijacogeo
    - Some Like it Lukewarm

- More info on the proposed new Monkees movie:

From: monkeebiz@prodigy.com ( MAGGIE   MCMANUS)

The interview with Dwight Yoakam in the June 1998 issue of
Tower Records' "Pulse!" magazine gives more info on the contents
of the proposed Monkees movie than anyone in the Monkees'
camp has yet divulged.
The subject comes up when Yoakam is discussing the tunes on
his new album, which includes the churning neo-rockabilly stomp
of Only Want You More [which] also receives an alternate reading,
Maybe You Like It, Maybe You Don't, which allows Yoakam to
indulge his ongoing Elvis Presley fetish... the variant version takes
its title from a treatment for a new Monkees movie, written by his
friend Mike Nesmith.
Collapsing with laughter, Yoakam explains, "It ends up with
[the Monkees] being in a spot where things that don't go on, that
are only reported in tabloid journalism, actually DO go on. Like
Martians abduct people, Elvis does live. I was gonna end up maybe
playing Elvis.
"Elvis is worked up, because he's been locked in exile so long
he's still alive, but he hasn't been able to perform for 20-some-odd
years. He's desperate to do anything, and he's begging the Monkees
to let him sit in, as pathetic a scenario as that is... At one point he's
worked up a little bit of I'm A Believer, and in an embarrassed way he
says, 'I'll do a little bit of it for ya, m-m-m-maybe you like it, maybe
you don't.'"
